(1) Introducing social enterprise The Knowledge Unit
Paul Holmes, Commercial Development Team from the Eden Project states:
"If you dont know much about the 'more than profit' social economy or need a better understanding of the various ways that Social Enterprises can operate, this course provides an excellent explanation and overview to this important and growing sector. Through the guidance of an engaging and knowledgeable tutor, I gained a clear understanding of the key values on which Social Enterprises are built and how they work to successfully balance their social aspirations and commercial goals. A thoroughly enjoyable and focused one-day course with useful reference notes to take away."
Whether you work at a strategic level, or provide initial information or advice to entrepreneurs or socially-minded individuals, this course will bring to life the diversity of what social enterprise can mean and what it can deliver. This one day course will give you a clear understanding of social enterprise and how relevant it may be to your clients or community. The course is fully endorsed by SFEDI against their standard for information advisors.
(2) Professional Development for Social Enterprise Advisors
Capital Qualitys SFEDI Endorsement Assessor states:
"I cannot praise this course too highly."
Whether you already support social enterprises or are new to this role, the Professional Development series provides all the knowledge and skills you need. These courses will confirm and improve your practice raising the standard of the advice you offer. The courses cover all the areas of expertise required by the social enterprise units for advisors (SFEDI standards).
The 3-day course will enable you to: identify and facilitate the opportunities to start viable social enterprises; help social enterprises through the early business planning stages and consideration of legal structures; and help social enterprises improve their performance, develop and grow.
Alternatively, choose only one or two days, depending on your skills and experience, to learn in more detail about a particular topic:
Day 1: Supporting Emerging Social Enterprise - Planning and Viability
Day 2: Supporting New Start Social Enterprises - Legal Structures and Business Planning
Day 3: Supporting Established Enterprises - Survival and Growth
The Professional Development series assumes that participants already have an understanding of the term "social enterprise". This includes understanding how social enterprises are different from private enterprises, charities, and community groups. Participants should also have an awareness of the different types of social enterprise. If you need help with these concepts we advise you to attend our Introducing Social Enterprise course as a first step.
All the courses are delivered by experienced social enterprise advisors ensuring that the courses are dynamic and based on practical know-how.
